DAY 1
Use your rail pass to Casino where you will be met and transferred to your motel. Your room has
everything you require - T.V., clock radio, tea making facilities, air con and ensuite bathroom with hair dryer.
Motel units are all on the ground floor with spacious grounds and a saltwater swimming pool. A guest laundry is
available. |
DAY 2Today we start the day with a visit to Mapleton Falls Lookout for scenic views over the Mary Valley. Then we go to Flaxton Barn, the Queensland Shop, then we go on a scenic drive through Maleny to McCarthy's Lookout for dramatic views of the Glasshouse Mountains. The afternoon will be spent in Montville, the arts and crafts centre of the Sunshine Coast, a village of unique architecture and wonderful shops, potteries, art galleries and the Cuckoo Clock shop. We finish the day with a visit to Settler's Rise Winery for a wine tasting and interesting talk about this newly established winery. |
DAY 3We commence the holiday with a look at our beautiful area. First a visit to the Dulong Lookout for scenic views along the entire length of the Sunshine Coast. Then we go to the Ginger Factory, the biggest in the world, taste the ginger, see the ginger being processed, see the dolls' cottage, vintage car garage, herb garden, koala cottage and macadamia house. |
DAY 4Today we go to the fabulous Eumundi markets. Lots of different stalls and entertainment. Now to Noosa - great views as we drive along the Noosa waterfront into Hastings street, the best known street in the land. Very cosmopolitan, some of the most expensive real estate in Australia. Lunch in Hastings street. Then on the way home a drive along the coast road for some spectacular scenery. |
DAY 5Start the day with a visit to the Eumundi Nougat Factory, see how they make this scrumptious delight, you can also have a taste test. Next the Super Bee a working honey factory. Lunch today is in Buderim, then the Big Pineapple, one of the Sunshine coasts icons, yummy food and interesting atttractions. |
DAY 6Today we visit Aussie World, home of the Ettamogah pub, see the timber shack and aboriginal artifacts display. Then onto Mooloolaba, Australia's biggest fishing port, for a delightful river cruise aboard the "Mudjimba". Lunch in Moolooaba, then a visit to Caloundra on the way home. |
DAY 7Our last day. We go for a leisurely drive through the Glasshouse Mountains to the Pumpkin Cottage (lots of yummy jams, pickles, cutney and macadamia nuts). A great lookout stop, then on to the Taoist Temple, built in 1988 at a cost of $9 million. It's a sight to behold. For lunch we stop at Southbank, the old Expo site, now a park for the people - a stunning place. Then on to Casino to catch the train. |
XPT leaves Sydney Central at 7.05 a.m. on Sunday, returns on Saturday 7.30 p.m. from Casino. All bookings are secured with a AU$50.00 deposit with the balance payable on arrival. Credit cards are not accepted - we suggest a money order or cheque.
